The Single Anastomosis Duodeno–Ileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy (SADI) is a newer procedure which combines a sleeve gastrectomy and a bypass of the small intestine from the duodenum (the intestine just beyond the stomach) leaving between 2.5 and 3metres of small bowel to absorb food. It is a powerful weight loss procedure, based on an older procedure that has been modified to reduce the risk of complications from malnutrition. Long term outcome data is limited, however, the procedure is gaining in popularity as an option for managing weight regain after sleeve gastrectomy. We would be happy to discuss whether this option is suitable for you.
